I see a lot of pros have sun glasses most of them take their glasses off to hit the ball and putt. Who here plays with them on most or all of the time? Or do you even take them out on the course?

I don't really have a preference! Sometimes they stay on the whole round, next time I may take them off to hit!

I don't wear 'em

I don't wear 'em Do you see the sun up there? :) I don't like to golf in them...although always have a pair with me here in Fl. |

I wear them. Real useful for them early morning rounds when the sun is just getting up and your hitting directly into it with a 12 budweiser night hangover.

I couldn't imagine playing w/o them....way too bright. But I also come from a cycling background, so I am used to having glasses on outside all the time. Occasionally I may left them to check something on the green, but I always wear 'em. IMO, Oakley makes the best glasses for any sporting activity. Lightweight, good grip, etc. My wife jokes that if you put an "O" logo on something, I start salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs!! |

Never wear them. I enjoy seeing colors, especially on golf courses.

i live in Florida and never wear sunglasses. never have. my wife can't leave the house without them. also, i wear glasses, so that's one reason i don't wear sunglasses and unless i'm playing a contact sport, i hate wearing contact lenses. maybe i'll wear the 3-D glasses i got when i saw Avatar or the old school red and blue 3-D glasses. Kenny Perry went to the Transition glasses and is not having the year he had last year. coincidence?

I tried playing with them once. I took them off after my first tee shot. It just didn't feel right.

I wear my sunglasses ALL of the time while on the course.

I wear my sunglasses ALL of the time while on the course. I'm pretty much the same way. Whenever the sun is out I wear sunglasses. It's bad for your eyes long-term to be out in the sun without UV protection. Most of you probably use sunscreen when out during peak sunlight hours. I urge everyone to also wear sunglasses at least during the peak midday hours when it's sunny. An article from a health web site: If eyes are overexposed to ultraviolet radiation, the front portion of the eyes may be damaged. If visible light is too bright or intense, or if you stare directly at the sun, even briefly, the retina can be damaged, causing permanent loss of vision. UV radiation, along with wind and drying of the eye, may cause snow blindness, an uncomfortable but temporary condition. There is some evidence that daily exposure to UV radiation in very bright sunlight over many years may increase the risk of developing cataracts. Cataracts cause a gradual clouding of the natural lens of the eye. |

I Usually have them but I take them off to hit the ball. I have perscription glasses (bifocals) and I can not wear them at all playing either. somethign about the changing focal point really screws with me. so if your in front of me on the course, keep in mind I'm playing blind :-) |

Living here in sunny Phoenix AZ.. I used to wear them all the time. At that time I couldn't break into the 80's. I then started to remove them when ligning up my putts and putting. Seen a much beter pace and line for the putt. I was sold. I am NOT wearing my glasses on the green. I was in the 80's consistently then. Few months later, my sun glasses got lost on the 2nd or 3rd hole of a round, and immediately I saw a better stroke on the ball. Way more pure shots, off the tee, 2nd shots.. you name it. Since then I never wear my sun glasses when I am stoking the golf ball. I leave them in the cart, and wear them in between shots. I believe the lenses were messing me up on perception, visually of contours.. I don't spend more than $15 on glasses, and I am sure there are makers out there that design lenses with no depth-effect for the eyes. So be it. But right now, I don't wear them at all to play golf. Since eliminating the glasses, I have eliminated 1 more equation to put balme on a bad stroke. I am a much better golfer without them.

Some of the best players in the world don't wear glasses. Phil Mickelson Tiger Woods Lee Westwood Steve Stricker Padrig Harrington etc etc etc... the list goes on and on of players who don't wear them and are good, vs. players who do wear them and are.. Justin Roses, Zach Johnson, Kenny Perry, and Trevor Immelman are prescription glasses. |
