So here we come into the home stretch and what better way to kick off the beginning of the end with a major championship. Welcome one and all to the 2nd Annual Canadian Bacon Shootout!! On behalf of myself, Sylla and our Prime Minister The Hon. Jean Poutine, welcome to Canada! Here you will all be very happy to find that there is a decided lack of subsidized corn in Northern British Columbia. What you will find however, is that just as the polar bears came out of hibernation, the smart-car sized mosquitoes came calling. The beavers up here are tougher than leather and from time to time, a moose walks on your line with absolutely no regard for proper etiquette. It’s all just part of living the life of a golfing lumberjack in northern Canada eh? So O.K., anyways, we got tons of BACON (and I literally mean tons, about 19,000 lbs worth), and enough Canadian beer to fill an ocean tanker (or 31,893 birch-bark canoe’s). Last years contestants barely made it out alive, but we’ll have Olga and Helga to help us get through the torment again this year. The course is in great shape and at 7,980 yards, it’s a brute!

Helga

Joseph Leone has taken asylum up here in Canada and will be able to make it out, TLaVan was seen hunting around for “BC bud” what ever that is and Cogolfer is on the run from the committee again but will try and squeeze in 36 holes somehow. Last year’s host, Sylla will be back in fine form with her team of trained beavers to heckle the other players and is the odds-on favourite to win. Shaun Crawford has been held up at the border and is being detained for trying to import phoney American bacon! Pete512 has also been held up because the border guards think his Florida licence looks like a fake! Something about oranges and bacon, I don’t know. And AT&T doesn’t exist up here so Wink won’t be able sell bogus cell phones out of his trench coat at this event while it looks like phifedawg is FURIOUS because, due to new legislation in Canada, Mizuno's are no longer legal for play here. We do have a nice set of vintage Spaldings to loan him though.
 SFGT Border Crossing photo!
But have a diverse menu of Bacon, bacon and bacon for breakfast lunch and dinner with beer for breakfast lunch and dinner (we have milk for Cogolfer). So let’s tee it up and may the best man, woman or child win!
 Canadian Beaver

(p.s. Watch out for the bears! They seem to be partial to people that play Srixon's. There's a .308 in my cart if you need it.)

Looking for Amigo's!!

I feel like I got hit high and low and then bit in the shin when the ref wasn't looking. First and foremost, I played like rancid bacon grease. Then there were the pins placed on the slope between levels of the green or on the very edge, 4 feet from the finge. The greens keeper was either stoned or the spawn of Satan. The first round I thought, just maybe, I out Cheladaed myself and got a little too loose, but oh hell no! I went out the second day with nothing but Gatorade and shot no better. The fact is straight forward. This round sucked because I played like the only club in my bag was a blunderbuss!
Congrats to the winners and especially those super rounds some of ya'll had. I hope to name the next tournament "Redemption."

Congrats to the winners! Great job! Still pretty tight at the top....anybody's game still. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats to RickAhlert, TheBigLuckabowski, and Dr. Duck on your victory.

TheBigLuckabowski August 17, 2010
I'd like to thank my sponsors......Big Fat Bacon, Grain Belt Premium and St Luis Rey....without them, none of this would be possible.

Dandy August 16, 2010
Well, thanks everybody for coming to Canada! I hope you had a good time and left me some bacon. See everybody next year, when we kick off the tournament in Newfoundland.....in January!!!

2nd Annual Canadian Bacon Shootout Results
Let's start off first by congratulating the lucky fools, ehhh, I mean, winners. Flight 1 was taken by RickAhlert who put in some great scores netting a -9.5. TheBigLuckabowski came out on top in Flight 2 ediging out wvu by just 1.2. In Flight 3, Foox, Wink and bookem_dano each played their little hearts out, but Duckman, who was already sitting at -4.7, shot everyone out of the water with a 2nd round score of -7.6, bringing his total event net diff to -12.3!

On the other side, Sylla had too much on her mind when playing the so called Belle and Bete courses (Beauty and Beast). She originally thought the Beast was a movie signing party for this new movie, http://sfgt2010.webs.com/le_be.., but was disappointed when she arrived at her destination and all she saw was a stinkin' golf course and couldn't concentrate on her game.

TLaVan was cursing the beavers for placing the pins directly on the down slope. It was later found out that

Is it ok if I ground my club in a bunker if it's filled with bacon?

Pete-HEFF-L August 16, 2010
Scoring is all in, and 2 people have been marked as MDF as they did not post their 2nd rounds. Score will be up shortly, but first we need to break for this very import news from our bacon sponsor...

Peteg512 August 16, 2010
Played my second round shot an 81, Pete L, when I declared the slope rating I screwed up and put an incorrect slope of 138, it should be 132. If I am DQ'd it was my fault.

cogolfer1 August 15, 2010
I think Fooz grounded his club in a sand bunker twice in his first round and three times in his second round. Wink, Sylla, or Pete, can you please confirm this?

Wink August 13, 2010
WOAH!!!!
Did mr duckhunter just blow the doors off Fooz's seemingly locked up win???

Dandy August 12, 2010
I'm sick as a dog, but I'm gonna pound some Crown Royal and give 'er biscuts tomorrow at 10. I dec!ared at Lone Wolf, but now I found out we're playing Lakepoint Golf Club. I can't wait 'cause it was the site of my nuclear explosion of a 96. Sick or not, I'm gonna murder that course tomorrow....

Just posted my 1st round of the tourney. It's dedicated to my Dad. It's one of the hardest thing I had to do.

Bookem_Dano August 8, 2010
I just posted my best round ever. 80 at my local course. I think I may have a chance at taking this one.
